WHO IS
CENTACARE BROKEN BAY
Centacare is a Non-Government, Non-Profit organisation
offering a range of services to the public, in particular, residents of
the Diocese of Broken Bay.
The purpose of Centacare is to act as the official Diocesan Family and
Welfare Agency for the Diocese of Broken Bay and in that capacity to:
- reach out and to be available to people
in need within the Diocese of Broken Bay, to listen to them
and to assist them to adjust to their life situation;
- act as a public benevolent institution
for the relief of suffering and distress, misfortunes and
helplessness;
- provide a multi-purpose Agency which
offers a professional Catholic welfare service to
communities within the areas serviced by the Diocese of
Broken Bay. This service to be available to any person in
the Diocese or region who is in need, regardless of age,
sex, religion, race or nationality;
- provide family and child counselling and
family and child mediation as an approved organisation under
the Family Law Act;
- provide benevolent activities such as
general counselling to persons in need:
- provide social work support to people who
are distressed;
- provide support for homeless youth and
victims of child abuse and domestic violence;
- to engage in other services which the
organisation may from time to time deem appropriate to
fulfil its purpose or which the Bishop may request; and
- establish offices within the Diocese of
Broken Bay as the service requires to carry out these
purposes
